S'pore Education System
This topic got LOADS of stuff to write seriously....
Ok lets go by points:
---------------------------

Point 1:

this entire (marvelous) education system revolves around what we deem as "kiasuism".
face the facts, singaporeans are "kiasu", or else tution centres will go bankcrupt like wad happened to GM and citibank.

parents are willing to donate ridiculously huge amounts of cash to (what we call) ELITE primary schools just to secure a place for their children, but end up worrying when psle draws near and their children arent performing?

people are afraid their children will undergo too much stress, but more importantly, they are all afriad that their children are LAGGING BEHIND. and here comes all the tution, extra lessons, brain-stretchers (etc)

scared that children undergo stress is "kiasu".

scared that children lagg behind or lose out, oso "kiasu"

------------------------------

Point 2:

face it, the education system is screwed.

there is apparent and obvious elitism among schools, and inside schools.

if you say thr's no such bullshit, then ppl won't come up with this term 'neighbourhood schools'.

When u get into raffles or hwachong, you are the top 3% in the entire cohort of the same age as you, the cream of the pie, the tip of the iceberg.

Ppl once said, the true train IP system is fabulous, no need O-levels, wa biang eh damn good lah, and you know, only those damn good schools offer 1 leh...

Ok so here we are, in the top 'prestigous' schools.

Then here comes "special programmes" for the best among the best.

Then here comes the "WAH SEH! IF CAN JOIN THEN SIBEI HOR WOR! REALLY NO.1 LIAO LA"

But have ppl ever stopped and think, hey u are already the top 3% of your entire s'pore cohort, u mean to say if u join the special programmes which onyl cater to those of excellent results, u are the top 1%?, the best of the best? the elites among the elites?

Dun forget, when we are able to step into a through train school, we say boy thats 1 great achievement. THEN NOW? Special programme?

Whats the point of being the best of the best seriously? stop and ask yourself, whats the point? it that really what you desire? is it really what you want? does it do more good than harm?

you end up study, study, study, homework, homework and more homework, your life revolves around nothing else but homework! The education minister say we must have well-rounded education and upbringing, lead a balanced life?

oh please, shut the fuck up and get lost. WHATS THE POINT OF STUDYING SO MUCH? PPL JUST THINK, OH THE MORE THE MERRIER? But does studying all these things make you a more capable person, a more well-rounded person? SOME THICK-SKULLED PPL WILL SAY OF COURSE? well you can tell them to go jump off the building.

Wake up, you are in the top 3%, just make sure you dont do very badly, but you need not do extremely well either. if university places arent reserved for you all, the top 3% of the cohort, then for who?

-------------------------------------------------------
it's time for all of us to realise, more education doesnt necessarily mean the greater good.

happiness and health is the most important.

thr's no point mugging whole day with no chance to play your com or xbox.

thr's no point is sleeping so little, getting not enough rest, and falling ill, or going to school and attending lessons half-awake.

thr's no point forgoing any of these just to get more knowledge.

thr's ABSOLUTELY no point learning so much bullshit which is of no use in the future.
learn to take, but oso learn to let go.

your life lies in your own hands, if you choose to make it miserable, you only have yourself to blame.
